Minister of Energy visits Salkhit Wind Farm

Yesterday (11 November 2012) Minister of Energy of Mongolia Mr. M. Sonompil visited Salkhit Wind Farm construction site, which is the biggest non-mining investment project in Mongolia this year, and got acquainted with the progress of the wind farm construction. During the tour at the site the Minister expressed satisfaction over the progress of work at the site and reaffirmed government’s support for renewable energy projects. He further expressed Government’s commitment to develop renewable sources to meet the objective to provide for 20% electricity demand from renewable energy source.

Accompanying the Minister were Ts. Ravdandorj, Executive Director, National Electricity Transmission Grid; S. Tuvshintugs, Executive Director, National Dispatching Center; D. Delgertsogt, State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and other senior officials of the Ministry.

Clean Energy LLC of Newcom Group has so far erected 9 of the planned 31 wind turbine generators. The company plans to supply 25 Mw energy to the central energy grid by mid December 2012.
